Time is both our constant companion and adversary, yet here for a few precious moments she graciously bows her head, concedes the spotlight and departs center stage. Now, in all of its radiance life's love and simplicity returns us momentarily to our infancy. Despite any woes or complexities, and despite the storms - we find ourselves once again like the sea turtles returning to our beach, like salmon returning to our stream- returning to life's origin - to become ourselves and us once more.

NRHS'65 THE YEAR THAT LASTS FOREVER
School Story:

There are several:

1) During a beautiful spring morning I became fascinated by this old man who was fishing in the twin lakes.His fishing rod was almost bent from its tip to the handle as he extended his arms well over his head. A picture of concentration, that old man very adeptly played that fish for two hours and finally was rewarded with the
largest carp I have ever seen caught in my fifteen years of fishing there. As I walked into the school I wondered if life would always be so generous - if the effort would be invested. I wrote on my late slip that I had "watched a man catch a fish". The secretary accepted it without a question.

2)After missing a homework assignment I was taken aside by my biology teacher. She told me that there was no excuse it and that I needed to see the big picture - I needed to be able, in the future step up and contribute when necessary. The next year Mrs. Anne Schwerner lost her son Michael, the freedom rider. I have never forgotten either of them.

3) How to change the complexion:
Sometimes there were gray days when dark thoughts clouded my mind. They seemed to forecast a storm ahead and I would walk around with my head down. Often a voice would rise above the din in that crowded hallway, calling out my name demanding my attention. When I looked up, there you were smiling, and then, so was I.

By the time that you read this seventy- nine will become part of your portfolio
